Welcome to King George Middle School!

I am so excited to begin another year as Principal at KGMS!

The 2024-2025 school year will be my 12th year serving King George County Schools (KGCS). Since 2013, I have worked in various capacities for KGCS. I originally came to KGCS as the school division's Secondary Program Specialist, then became Assistant Principal at Potomac Elementary School, then transitioned to Assistant Principal here at KGMS, and finally was named Principal of KGMS beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. Prior to serving the King George community, I worked as a substitute teacher and tutor in Ohio, as a teacher and tutor in a private school in Fredericksburg, and as a special education teacher at Massaponax High School.

I graduated from Vinton County High School in 1999, attended the University of Rio Grande for two years and then graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from Ohio University in 2004. After moving to Virginia in 2005, I earned a Master of Education Degree from the University of Mary Washington in 2010. In 2016, I earned an Educational Specialist Degree from Liberty University and then, in 2020, I completed my doctoral studies and earned a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

My wife and I met in 2008 while teaching at Massaponax High School and were married in 2018. We are the proud parents of two pitbulls, Bucky and Fancy, and enjoy spending time hiking, sitting on the porch, and watching TV with them. Additionally, as many of you know, I am an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and spend every Saturday in the fall cheering them on (Go Bucks!).

I am looking forward to a great school year! It is our goal as a school to get better every year and to maximize our resources to provide our scholars with an outstanding education in a welcoming environment. We will continue to utilize our PBIS framework to help all students be successful and we look forward to working closely with students and families to provide the support each student needs to reach their full potential and be prepared for high school. In particular, we plan to focus on and celebrate our belief in students during the upcoming school year while helping them learn how to be Respectful, Accountable, Productive, and Present. That's a RAPP!

Go Foxes!!

I’m so excited to be part of the leadership team here at King George Middle School! My goal is always to see growth out of every student. During my career, that is always the goal and I look forward to opportunities to make this happen every day. I started my career teaching in what was the old King George High School building, and I’m thrilled to be back to the same building where I started my teaching career.

Before arriving at KGMS as Assistant Principal, I also served in this role at King George Elementary. While at that school, I was able to lead efforts in school improvement to increase pass rates in Science and Math while decreasing the chronic absentee rate.

Prior to that, I had an Assistant Principal experience pushing Washington District Elementary to full accreditation in Westmoreland County. I also served as the Director of Student Services on the division leadership team at Colonial Beach Schools to successfully lead the school out of the COVID-19 school closures.

As Assistant Principal, I look forward to the relationships I will build with students, families, and all other stakeholders at King George Middle School. Please reach out to me with any questions and I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Hello Everyone and welcome to King George Middle School! My name is Claire Taylor and I am incredibly proud to be a part of our amazing community of students, staff, and families.

I am originally from Connecticut and graduated from Hopkins Grammar School in 2002. I attended Boston University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. In 2010, I earned my Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Simmons University and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Most recently, I received a second Master’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Educational Leadership.

I began my teaching career in Lawrence, MA as a middle school special education teacher and supported students in grades 5-8 for seven years. After moving to Virginia in 2013, I continued my career in special education as a low incidence teacher for Riverbend High School. I then transitioned to the role of autism specialist at a public separate setting. Prior to joining the KGCS community, I was a coordinator for the Office of Student Support Services in Spotsylvania County.

I firmly believe that every student can learn, and I am committed to providing them with the support they need to reach their full potential. I am looking forward to a safe, collaborative, and engaging school year. Go Foxes !
