Welcome to King George Middle School!

I am so excited to begin my new role as Principal at KGMS! In addition to transitioning to a new role for the 2022-2023 school year, I am also starting my tenth year serving King George County Schools. Since 2013, I have worked in various capacities for KGCS. First, as the Secondary Program Specialist, then as Assistant Principal at Potomac Elementary School, and finally as an Assistant Principal at KGMS. Prior to serving the King George community, I worked as a substitute teacher and tutor in Ohio, as a teacher and tutor in a private school in Fredericksburg, and as a special education teacher at Massaponax High School.

I graduated from Vinton County High School in 1999, attended the University of Rio Grande for two years and then graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from Ohio University in 2004. After moving to Virginia in 2005, I earned a Master of Education Degree from the University of Mary Washington in 2010. In 2016, I earned an Educational Specialist Degree from Liberty University and then, in 2020, I completed my doctoral studies and earned a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

My wife and I met in 2008 while teaching at Massaponax High School and were married in 2018. We are the proud parents of two pitbulls, Bucky and Fancy, and enjoy spending time hiking, sitting on the porch, and watching TV with them. Additionally, as many of you know, I am an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and spend every Saturday in the fall cheering them on (Go Bucks!).

I am looking forward to a great school year! KGMS experienced some growing pains last year, but we are prepared and ready to make the 2022-2023 school year our best year! We plan to utilize our PBIS framework to help all students be successful and we look forward to working closely with our students and our families to provide the support our students need to reach their full potential and to prepare them for high school. In particular, we plan to focus on and celebrate our passion for teaching and learning during the upcoming school year while helping our students learn how to be Responsible, Accountable, Productive, and Present. That's a RAPP!

Hello Everyone and welcome to King George Middle School! My name is Claire Taylor and I am incredibly proud to be a part of our amazing community of students, staff, and families.

I am originally from Connecticut and graduated from Hopkins Grammar School in 2002. I attended Boston University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. In 2010, I earned my Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Simmons University and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Most recently, I received a second Master’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Educational Leadership.

I began my teaching career in Lawrence, MA as a middle school special education teacher and supported students in grades 5-8 for seven years. After moving to Virginia in 2013, I continued my career in special education as a low incidence teacher for Riverbend High School. I then transitioned to the role of autism specialist at a public separate setting. Prior to joining the KGCS community, I was a coordinator for the Office of Student Support Services in Spotsylvania County.

I firmly believe that every student can learn, and I am committed to providing them with the support they need to reach their full potential. I am looking forward to a safe, collaborative, and engaging school year. Go Foxes !
