VDP/K-12 STEM Outreach Summer Academy
King George Public Schools in conjunction with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division is participating in a program involving middle school student teams
in a problem-based learning project which uses LEGO Mindstorm® robots. This year, a one-week summer academy will be held at Sealston Elementary School during
June 24-28, 2019.

***There is no cost to the students***

All seventh and eighth grade students who have NOT participated in past VDP/K-12 STEM Outreach summer academies may apply to participate in this year’s summer
academy. The following are important details you may want to consider:
1. The VDP Summer Academy will be held June 24-28, 2019 at Sealston Elementary School.  Only students currently in the seventh or eighth grade this school year are eligible. Media recordings such photo and video will be an integral part of evaluation and promotion of the Summer NDEP /VDP program. Submitting an
application will indicate your consent for your student to participate in media recordings.
2. Students are expected to be present every day. If there are family vacation plans or other activities that will prevent attendance, please do not have your
student apply. Only students meeting the attendance requirement will receive consideration for the academy.
3. Transportation to Sealston Elementary School will be the responsibility of parents.  Parents must drop off their students between 8-8:15 AM and pick them up at
3:30 PM. Breakfast and lunch will NOT be provided, students must bring a lunch (and snack if desired). Coolers/refrigeration will NOT be available—plan
accordingly. Water bottles are encouraged.
