Technology Acceptable Use Policy and Guidelines
King George County Schools provides access to technology and the internet to enhance learning, foster collaboration, and support responsible digital citizenship across all grade levels. The Acceptable Computer System Use Policy and Technology Use Guidelines outline expectations for the safe, ethical, and educational use of all division technology resources, including devices, networks, and online services.
KGCS uses internet filters, monitoring systems, and digital citizenship instruction to ensure a secure online environment and to help students make responsible choices when using technology. All users (including students, staff, and others) are expected to act respectfully, protect personal information, and use technology in ways that support instruction and school operations.
Use of division technology is considered a privilege, not a right, and all activity may be monitored to maintain system integrity and safety. Misuse of technology resources may result in loss of privileges, disciplinary consequences, and/or legal action. By using KGCS technology, users agree to follow the division’s Acceptable Use Policy, adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and uphold the values of digital responsibility and academic integrity.

Digital Resources and Privacy
King George County Schools (KGCS) is committed to providing access to digital resources that respects and protects student privacy while maximizing learning opportunities for our students.
KGCS has a process for reviewing and approving technology at the district level, which follows best practices identified by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule ("COPPA") and the Department of Education.
Digital Instructional Resources
Instructional Resources reviewed and approved for use in KGCS are available for families to review. Some of the approved resources are supported by the division and paid for centrally. In addition, schools can select other resources from the list that are most appropriate for their students' instructional needs.
